This Millionaire Baseball Player Lives In A Volkswagen Camper Van

He spends his offseason living in his 1978 Volkswagen Westfalia camper van

Daniel Norris is the starting pitcher for the Detroit Tigers with a $2 million signing bonus, but what sets him apart from other baseball players is that Norris spends his offseason living in his 1978 Volkswagen Westfalia camper van.

It’s a bit of a departure from some of the more lavish RV’s and campers we’ve shown in the past but what this 23 year old pitcher has here is the dream; a self sufficient, happy life on the road.

When asked about life in the van, Norris told Baseball America:

“As a van-dweller, essentially it’s the same,” he said. “I still cook my own meals, I have a kitchen—it’s a little fuel-powered stove and I’ve got a couple pots and pans—and it works pretty well. I enjoy it. The way I grew up, my dad owned a mountain bike shop and that’s really it, so we had to learn to take care of yourself and be sustainable with what you have.”
